Onion Chutney

The prep may make you cry, but the taste will make your taste buds smile 😃!
A quick Onion Thogayal (Chutney) recipe. Delicious and versatile, it can be eaten with rice and rotis, any tiffin like idli, dosai, pongal vadai etc, and also used as a spread in sandwiches and burgers!

🧅Heat 1tbsp of oil. Saute
1 tbsp Urad Dal
3 Red chillies
2 Byadgi or Kashmiri Chilies
1 tbsp Coriander seeds ( Daniya)
until dal turns light brown. Set aside
🧅In the same oil saute 1 cup chopped onions till they turn golden
🧅Blend together to form a coarse
Sautéd onions
Sautéd spices
1 tsp Swad Tamarind Paste
12 curry leaves
1/3 tsp Asafoetida
3/4 tsp salt
🧅Tempering
Heat 1 tsp oil
Let splutter
1 tsp Mustard seeds
1 tsp Jeera (Cumin Seeds)
2 Red Chillis
Few Curry leaves
Add to chutney!

🧅🧅 Variations
Add 1 cup chopped tomatoes either at the sautéing stage with the onions or just before grinding. Each will give a different, but delicious flavor !

🧅🥄This Chutney can be stored in a refrigerator for up to a week. Use a clean dry spoon with every use.🥄🧅
