Cabbage as a food has problems. It is easy to grow, a useful source of greenery for much of the year. Yet as a vegetable it has original sin, and needs improvement. ~ Jane Grigson
One of the least liked vegetables in my place, I often spice it up in a steamed Sauté and make it more palatable!
Spicy Cabbage Recipe
Heat 3 tbsp oil and let crackle
1 tsp Mustard seeds
1 tsp Cumin seeds
3 sliced Thai chillies
10 Curry leaves
Add and brown 1 cup onions
Add and let cook till soft 1 cup tomatoes
Add 4 cups finely shredded Cabbage
1/2 tsp Turmeric
1 helped tbsp MTR Rasam Powder
1 tsp salt
1/3 tsp Asafoetida.
Sprinkle with water as needed. Shut and stir often to cook till Cabbage is Al dente. Sprinkle and handful of chopped Cilantro and 1 tsp grated ginger and mix well.
Serve with rice or rotis or as s side to any meal.
