There are not many original shapes or silhouettes — only a million variations.

Kodubale – Karnataka style spicy Murukku (Indian style deep fried lentil and rice pretzel)
Traditionally, bale means bangle, and these are round in shape. However, for the occasions, I varied it to be teardrop shaped like Deepavali clay lamps or diyas.
Recipe
泌Grind together
¼ cup coconut, fresh or desiccated
1 tsp Jeera / Cumin Seeds
5 whole dried Kashmiri Red Chillies in ¼ cup water.
泌Mix together
½ cup Rice flour
1 tbsp Semolina / Sooji
1 tsp salt
½ cup Maida / Plain flour
½ tsp Ajwain / Carom seeds
A pinch of Asafoetida
泌 Add masala paste to rice flour blend and knead to form a soft dough. The paste should be enough to yield a thick dough. If need be add water teaspoon by teaspoon.
泌Divide the dough into small spheres about 1 inch diameter. Roll these out into long ropes. 泌Loop to form a circle and pinch to seal ends. Each loop should be the size a circle made by the tips of your thumb and forefinger touching each other.
泌Deep fry in oil at medium heat till brown.
Store in an air right container and enjoy as a snack
